In 1961, Scofield Memorial Church started the Scofield Christian Day School. It was the first preschool sponsored by an independent evangelical church in the Dallas area. The school was formed to provide Bible-based and Christ-centered education for children. It was also to serve as a witness to families in the community who desired the advantages of a private school.
Although the school started with preschool, it expanded to include second grade by 1975. Even in the midst of building transitions after a church fire in 1975, the school expanded to sixth grade by 1979. In 2002, seventh and eighth grades were added. In 2008, the school returned to 3K through 6th grade.
The first principal was Mrs. Gladys Phillips, who served from 1961 – 1970. Between 1971 and 2007, the school had six principals before the arrival of our Head of School, Mrs. Stephanie Johnson-Martin.
